Studio artists work in a variety of different occupations that require a combination of hand skills, an understanding of a variety of material applications, and creative problem solving. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts degree encompasses knowledge, skills, and dispositions that are in demand from an array of creative fields-including but not limited to medical, entertainment, and design-in addition to the skills needed to be studio artists. Students may be able to use some courses to meet more than one requirement. Elective courses, if needed, to reach an overall total of at least 120 units.Up to 9 units of major prefix courses may be used to satisfy Liberal Studies requirements these same courses may also be used to satisfy major requirements.Note that PHO courses, ART 100, ART 101 and ART 300 do not fulfill the requirements of the BFA major.At least 84 units of major requirements which include 27 units of emphasis requirements.On its website,, you will find publications and other resources for bassoonists at every stage, amateur to professional. The International Double Reed Society is the world-wide organization of double reed (oboe and bassoon family) players, instrument manufacturers and enthusiasts. Performance opportunitiesīassoonists at NAU regularly perform as members of orchestras, several concert bands, and smaller chamber ensembles. There are several school-wide activities, such as honors recitals and convocations, that all members of the studio should attend. Not only are bassoonists member of the studio we are also members of the School of Music. Each semester our studio holds a studio recital in which all members of the studio perform. Members of the bassoon studio are expected to attend all recitals held by members of the studio and by the bassoon professor. These classes are a vital component in the development of performance skills for players at all levels. Our studio has a weekly masterclass, 11:10-12:30 on Tuesdays, during which we collectively and individually perform for each other. In order to get the most out of each lesson, it is crucial that everyone be on-time and ready to play at lesson time. Basson Studio expectations Weekly lessonsĪll students enrolled for bassoon lessons, get either a half-hour or one hour weekly lesson (depending on the number of credit hours for which you are enrolled).
